Now, as the year 2023 draws to a close, it is time to reflect upon the closest past. During the year 2023, we at Discoverer faced many challenging technical issues and took immediate action when it was needed, sometimes sacrificing our personal and family spare time to do so. However, ultimately, we accomplished all of our tasks. The cluster performs satisfactorily, and the majority of customers are content with the efficiency of the computational resources.

Santa Claus brought us many presents. The most impressive of them was a complete process for getting new GPU-based compute nodes and fast cluster storage system. We hope to receive those important additions to the Discoverer’s infrastructure within the first three to four months of 2024.

We also decided to provide our customers with a featured gift – the beta version of GROMACS 2024, which you can test (report here any issues found). As usual, the programming code has been compiled and optimized for performance. To access the gmx_mpi utility, simply load the necessary environment module:

module load gromacs/2024/2024-beta-intel-fftw3-openblas-nogpu-openmpi

and enjoy fast simulations.
